You need to have be working or volunteering as a teaching assistant for 15 hours per week in a school. The breath of your role is important - you need to have a high level of responsibility at your school - for example responsibility for regularly planning and implementing group activities independently of the teacher. We would expect you to you will have a minimum 12 months experience in this role before embarking on this course.
You will be invited to attend an interview and will complete a literacy test as part of the interview process. Good literacy skills are important in a TA role, so occasionally we will recommend students enrol on a literacy course prior to starting this course.
