The Faculty for Technology offers a wide range of Vocational, Technical and Professional courses to support individuals, who are either starting or progressing in their chosen industry or profession.
Full-time, day release and evening courses are provided for the foundation level of vocational qualifications. These courses are designed for those wishing to gain knowledge and qualifications to start work in a specific industry or trade. Progression of learning is available for all of our students, from foundation to the next level and is generally offered as a day release course.
The technical studies curriculum area provides for academic qualifications within the construction, electronics and engineering industries. The programmes offered prepare students for work within their industry and/or for higher education.
For professional development a large number of evening and day courses are offered, these include qualifications demanded by industry for example IEE wiring regulations, domestic gas safety and health and safety courses (safe use of work equipment).
All curriculum areas can provide training and support to local companies with bespoke courses and services
Leisure and DIY courses are very popular and are available for attendance during the evenings or Saturday mornings, the subjects offered range from brickwork, fine furniture, welding and cutting, decorative finishes to engineering practices and others to maximise the use of our facilities.
All curriculum areas (Electrical and Electronic Services, Technical Studies, Mechanical and Vehicle Services and Construction Crafts and Furniture) can provide training and support to local companies with bespoke courses and services. Corporate training is specific to the clients needs and is delivered to suit the company’s demands.
The Faculty for Technology maintains a high standard of achievement by providing its students, staff and other stakeholders with quality provision and facilities to meet the needs of the curriculum offered.
The Faculty also aims to maintain a high standard of employer responsiveness and is publishing a series of Employer Responsiveness Strategies to meet the specific needs and priorities of each industry sector within its remit.
